Today’s Game was against Gresley Rovers U16 at our home ground.

In goal today we had Jodie. Defenders – Ruby, Ella, Kaylee, Rebecca, Hannah and Faye. Midfield – Mabel (c), Nellie, Elise, Jess, Evie B and Ellie as our striker.

First Half – Todays game was a big one to try and stay in the chance for 2nd Place. Within 3 minutes Gresley scored a quick goal and then again, a few minutes later. Even though they had scored 2 quick goals the girls kept their heads up and carried on. Gresley had a corner and unfortunately an Oadby player hit it into their own goal. By this time, we seemed to struggle to play as a team and were panicking with the ball. Gresley then scored another one which was a great strike into our net.

Half time score O&W 0-4 Gresley Rovers

Second Half – After a big team talk about the first half our girls went on with a different mindset and I felt we dominated the second the half. We were playing great football and working as a team. We were constantly on the push to score those girls. Mabel came in from outside the 18-yard box and took a shot which gave us our first goal. This then pushed all the girls to dig deep and play like we know they can. We had some great chances but couldn’t find the back of the net. Unfortunately, we ran out of time

Final Score – Oadby & Wigston 1 – 4 Gresley Rovers

Player of the match – This award goes to a player that showed exactly the skill level she has playing on the Right wing. Throughout the second half, she didn’t stop running into space, having great runs down the line under pressure, setting lovely through balls and great crosses. I was so happy to see her play the way I know she can and clearly shows the right wing is the best position for her.

The POTM award goes to TILLY!!!! I am so proud of you on how hard you fought on the pitch today and you showed that you use your technical knowledge of the game well under pressure. It was great seeing you wear your heart on your sleeve and play the way you did. Well done mate!

Thank you to Paul for running the line and to all our parents/supporters that came to watch us today. Thank you to Dave for the help with the nets every week.
