Sunday 08th October 2023

Today’s Game was away to Quorn Juniors U16.

In goal today we had Jodie, Defenders – Ruby, Faye, Kaylee, Rebecca, Ella, Madison and Elise , Midfield – Mabel (c), Nellie, Jess, Tilly, Evie and Ellie our striker today.

First Half – Once we started getting into the game after around 15 minutes, we started playing some good football which led to the first goal from Ellie with her left foot. Quorn weren’t giving us any chances and battled against us well whilst we kept trying to get the second goal. Quorn had a few chances at getting the equaliser, but Our goalkeeper Jodie was ready for anything that came to her and did brilliantly. Our second goal came from Tilly, with a great run through and an awesome strike! Then with a huddle around the oppositions goal, Nellie saw an opening and tapped the ball in. A great first half with lots of promising chances to come.

Second Half – After a team talk and a rest, the girls were ready to get going again. Quorn came out in a very hungry and determined manner to get their score line up. There was a lot of fiery moments from both teams and some nice football being played. Mabel our Captain was frustrated with the game and really wanted her goal. In the 73rd minute she took a great strike and scored! She thoroughly deserved it! The game then seemed to get very fired up against both teams, but the girls held in well with the heads in the game and then a corner from Mabel there was a scuffle in the box and Evie managed to hit the ball in the back of the net!

Final Score – Oadby & Wigston 5 – 0 Quorn Juniors

Thank you to Quorn Juniors U16 for giving us a good fight and showing us that we can play against a team the puts a lot of pressure on.

Player of the match – The person to win this award put 100% effort into this game as did many others. This person stood out because no matter what no one was able to get past her, she tracked back to make sure they couldn’t get to goal and was everywhere she needed to be to either defend or support her teammates. Player of the match goes to FAYE!! You did brilliant today…. Keep up the good work.
