Today’s game saw us Away at Attleborough Sports.
In goal today we had Jodie, Defenders – Ruby, Faye, Kaylee, Rebecca, Ella, Madison and Elise , Midfield – Mabel (c), Nellie, Jess, Tilly, Evie and Ellie our striker today.
First Half – The girls went straight into the game with the will to win. They had a lot of excitement to play from not having a game scheduled last weekend. First goal came in the 13th minute from Mabel with a great strike. Then a few minutes later Evie Scored a great top bins after being 1v1 with the keeper. The game went on with a great battle between both teams which had us on the back foot, A corner was given to Attleborough which unfortunately came off one of our own players into the back of the opposing net.
Second Half – After a team chat and break we went back on feeling great with the score 2-1 to Oadby and Wigston. We asked for the girls to keep composed within the second half to keep the score on our side. With a few scrambles and tiredness overcoming girls, the game started to feel like the pressure was building with Attleborough really pushing and denying us of many chances for goal. However, a corner later on in the second half, taken by Evie resulted in an own goal from Attleborough for our 3rd goal for Oadby.
– Jodie our Goalkeeper was superb today and making her own decisions depending on what was in front of her. The movement and body positions she has been working on in training paid off today with great execution of ball in a confident way.
– Faye was solid at the back today and made it extremely difficult for the opposing team to get past her.
– Midfield did some great runs through and were so unfortunate to not have scored any more goals.
– Ellie at the front was available and ready at all times and played some great football alongside the team.
Final Score – Oadby & Wigston 3 – 1 Attleborough Sports
Thank you to Attleborough Sports for your hospitality and giving us a good fight. A great team who shown great sportsmanship.
Player of the match – Todays POTM was a difficult decision but today it goes to Tilly! Tilly had a great first half where she made some great runs and took some cracking strikes, she was extremely unfortunate to not have scored today but I know her time is coming! Keep up the good work Tilly. You are always so hardworking, a great team player and a valued member of the squad!
