Oadby & Wigston U16 had their first League game of the season against Hinckley Borough FC at our home ground.
We had 12 players today with Jodie in goal, at the back we had Jess, Rebecca, Kaylee, Ella and faye followed by Nellie playing a defensive attacking position. Midfield we had Mabel (C), Ellie, Tilly and Evie Followed by Reese up front. Jess took on 2 roles today playing right back and a right Winger.
Today’s task i gave them was to play as a team and give 100% as soon as the whistle is blown and they did just that.
First Half – With a good battle between both teams from the start, we started to get into the game supporting and playing as a team. we had some great chances going forward which unfortunately didnt give us the goal until Reese received the ball, kept control as she was moving forward and passed it to her left which Ellie was ready and placed it into the back of the net. We then went on having a few more chances which didn’t pay off.
Second half – second half was an even better battle form both teams with Hinckley trying to get that equaliser. Our newest defenders Rebecca, Kaylee and Jess played amazingly and along with our other defenders Ella and Faye they struggled to get past, even on the occasions when they took a shot our goalkeeper was ready to make sure it wasn’t going in! We had lots more chances from our midfield’s and striker but unfortunately we couldn’t get another goal.
Final score: oadby & Wigston 1 – Hinckley Borough 0

You played brilliantly today and supported everyone that needed you. You read the game really well and always gave your max effort in the game. You even showed us some of that skill you’ve been keeping a secret….Very proud of you!
